Select Title, Michigan United Mortgage and RE/MAX Platinum are delighted to announce they have retained Attorney Bill Russell as General Counsel. Recently of Zamler, Mellen and Schiffman, P.C. in Southfield, Russell also served as Vice President and General Counsel for RPF Oil Company in Grand Blanc, and the principal of the Russell Law Firm, PLLC.

Mr. Russell has had an amazing career since his days as a Judicial Clerk for the Honorable Eugene Arthur Moore of the Oakland County Probate Court. He graduated second in his class from the University of Detroit Mercy Law School in 1986, and ended up in Livingston County full-time in 1997 to serve as Vice President and General Counsel for The Michigan Group-Livingston owned and operated by Joe DeKroub. Mr. Russell was a tremendous asset to the company, especially during the merger with RE/MAX Platinum owned by Dan Callan and Will Steinmetz.

He’s garnered wonderful accomplishments during his career, serving as President of LCAR and on the Board of Directors for Realcomp II (the multiple listing service for Realtors throughout southeastern Michigan), as Chairman of the Legal Committee for the Michigan Tae Kwon Do Association, and on the Board of Directors for Love Inc. Mr. Russell received the Optimist International Law Enforcement Award in 2003 for his service as attorney coach of the Hartland High School mock trial team.

Many community organizations have benefited from his volunteer service, such as Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Tour de Cure and Relay for Life, LACASA, Pathway Schools, the Haven, the Arts Council and ARC of Livingston County, Covenant House, the Howell Balloonfest, MS 150, St. Louis Center, and the CMU Alumni Association.

Married for 34 years and an Oceola Township resident, Mr. Russell is an avid bicyclist and a member of the Knights of Columbus. With a Black Belt, he serves as an instructor at Kil’s Tae Kwon Do in Brighton.

Given Mr. Russell’s vast experience, he will once again be an incredible resource to assist with closings in today’s ever-changing and complex real estate market.
