Livingston County, in essence a suburb of Ann Arbor, benefits from the amenities there, including world-class medical facilities and entertainment options. Livingston County, too, is poised to reap the rewards of this close relationship. The two communities share a lot, including many outdoor and recreational opportunities.

I recognize the importance of RE/MAX Platinum to be as strong in the Washtenaw County area as it is in the Livingston County area. That’s why we’re making a major investment in expanding our Ann Arbor office, and a major commitment to be active members of the Ann Arbor community.

If you look at the growth and transportation patterns, you’ll see that Livingston County is growing to the south, and Washtenaw County is growing to the north.

The RE/MAX Platinum office in Ann Arbor is moving from a 4,000-square-foot facility to one nearby that is over 10,000 square feet in size. The new office space has room for up to 100 real estate agents, and we are in the midst of remodeling it to suit our needs. Just like the two communities, RE/MAX Platinum is expanding its territory.

What could be more natural? The cultures of the two communities blend so well. Ann Arbor is very health-oriented; people there love the trails; they exercise, eat healthy and think green. Livingston County has so many natural amenities to compliment these lifestyles, with its open spaces, recreation areas and many lakes.

For families who prefer country living in a larger home, but still want the benefits of being close to the amenities in Ann Arbor, Livingston County is the place to put down roots. You get far more bang for your housing buck in Livingston County. Livingston County is also located between the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) and Michigan State University (Lansing) while also hosting location for a satellite campus of Eastern Michigan University as well as home of Cleary College – a community of education – to say the least!

For those looking for a more cultural/city lifestyle, Ann Arbor is perfect. In addition to being home to the University of Michigan and next door to Eastern Michigan University, its proximity to Metropolitan Airport as well as the Greater Detroit Area and a multitude of Museums make it an attractive place for those wanting to be in the mix of the business, technology, education, and artist word.

I see the U.S. 23/I-96 corridor as the next big thing, much like I-275 and I-96 in Livonia and U.S. 23 and I-94 in Ann Arbor. Transportation is important throughout Southeast Michigan, and if it ever comes to fruition, high-speed rail through Oakland, Wayne, Washtenaw and Livingston counties would make the entire region boom.

This expansion is not a decision we made lightly: We tested the waters with a smaller office for a year before we decided to expand in Ann Arbor. The time is right for this expansion, and I know we’ll be as successful in Washtenaw County area as we are in our other areas.
