I was born in Detroit and lived there until I was 10 years old, when I moved to Livonia. At that time, Plymouth Road was a two-lane highway, and Wonderland shopping plaza was being built.
My father, a very strict Sicilian man, was once a boxer. I never wanted to do work, but my dad made it very clear that I was to finish my work before I went to have fun, which, for me, included playing baseball.
I graduated from Franklin High School in 1966; then it was off to the military. I was stationed in Europe and didn’t have to go to Vietnam. In the military, I was an air policeman and learned self discipline.
After the military, I had a few jobs that I didn’t like, including working on an assembly line. I made good money, but it was a lot of hard work. On Nov 8, 1974, I began working in real estate at B.F. Chamberlain in Livonia where I worked with Joe DeKroub. We notice the number of people moving to Livingston County and decided to take our own real estate business “out there.” Now, 35 years later, I am still working with Joe, and as a real estate agent.
